Numerous events were co-ordinated/organised over the past 36 years, most notably:

  • An international symposium on South Africa and the World: Political and Strategic Realities,  for the Pretoria Branch of the South African Institute of International Affairs (SAIIA), Pretoria, 1976 - 252 delegates.
  • An international conference on Africa Twenty-Five Years after Independence: Lessons for the Future, for the Africa Institute of South Africa (AISA), Pretoria, 1985 - 268 delegates.
  • An international workshop on Constitution-Making and Democratisation in Africa, for the Africa Institute of South Africa (AISA), Pretoria, 1997 - 165 delegates.
  • An international conference on The Total Quality Initiative: Getting to Grips with Essential Good Manufacturing Practice Standards, for the South African Association of Pharmacists in Industry (SAAPI), Midrand, 2006 - 257 delegates.

Some 80 local and international conferences/workshops were attended over the past decade, either as a paper presenter or a participant, of which the more important ones since 1995 are:

  • October 2006 - Conference on China in the 21st Century: Preparing for the Forum on China-Africa Co-operation, organised by the Nepad Secretariat, the Royal African Society, and the South African Institute of International Affairs, Misty Hills, Muldersdrift (outside Johannesburg); participant.
  • July 2006 - International Seminar on India-Africa Relations: Emerging Policy and Development Perspectives, organised by the Centre for African Studies, University of Mumbai, India; present paper on "What Role for Nepad, Peer Review, and the CSSDCA? The Centrality of Liberal Democracy and Good Governance for an African Renewal".
  • March 2006 - Malawi Constitutional Review Conference, Lilongwe, organised by the Malawi Law Commission; present paper on "Elections and Electoral Systems in Emerging Democracies: The Case for Electoral System Re-Design in Malawi".
  • September 2005 - Consultative Conference on The African Peer Review Mechanism: Promoting Democracy and Good Governance, organised by the South African Government Department of Public Service and Administration, Midrand, South Africa; participant.
